Aluminium joinery is the general name for windows, doors, shop fronts and facade systems made from extruded aluminium profiles. Thanks to aluminium’s high strength, slim profiles can carry large areas of glass, creating modern, airy facades.
Where Is It Used?
Modern villas, boutique hotels, shop fronts, office facades, entrance doors and interior partitions are the main applications. Slim black or anthracite aluminium frames are popular in contemporary villas in Dalyan and Göcek, while wide shop windows and automatic door systems stand out for businesses in central Ortaca.
Advantages
- Large glass areas and plenty of light with slim profiles.
- High strength; large, heavy sashes do not sag.
- Rust-free; resistant to sea air with the right coating.
- Wide colour choice with powder coating and anodising.
- Good thermal insulation with thermally broken systems.
- Recyclable material.
Technical Design
In thermally broken aluminium systems, the inner and outer parts of the profile are separated by glass fibre reinforced polyamide strips. This barrier stops heat being conducted through the profile. Systems can be made with turn, tilt and turn, sliding, lift-and-slide and folding openings. Low-E or laminated double glazing is used. Non-insulated systems are an economical choice for interior partitions, storerooms and service areas.
Sizes and Installation
Aluminium joinery is made to order and to measure. During the survey, wall openings, facade structure and opening preferences are determined and drawings are prepared if needed. Stainless anchors are used during installation, the gap between frame and wall is insulated and the outside is waterproofed. For large shop front systems, the glass is moved with equipment and installed by a team.
Maintenance
Aluminium surfaces should be washed with soapy water twice a year, and salt deposits near the sea should be cleaned regularly. Gaskets and hardware should be checked once a year. Abrasive cleaners can damage the coating.
