PVC window repair and adjustment is an on-site service for windows and doors that have started to sag, rub against the frame, close with difficulty, have a stiff handle or let in wind and dust when closed. Most problems with PVC joinery come not from the profile but from hardware that has gone out of adjustment, and are solved with a short intervention.
Which Problems Are Fixed?
- Sash sagging and rubbing on the bottom frame.
- Stiff handle or sash that will not close.
- Wind, dust or noise coming through a closed window.
- Sash dropping in the tilt position or the stay coming loose.
- Door bolt not engaging with the keep.
- Sliding sashes jumping off the track or sliding stiffly.
How Is It Done?
Our technician first checks the position of the sash relative to the frame, the hinge and stay adjustments, the keeps and the gaskets. In modern PVC hardware, adjustment screws on the hinges and stays allow the sash to be adjusted precisely up-down, left-right and for compression. If necessary, the glazing blocks are repositioned, which provides a permanent fix for sashes sagging under heavy glass. Keeps are adjusted for compression so the sash presses evenly on the gasket.
Advantages
- An economical solution without replacing the window.
- Usually completed in a single visit.
- Thermal and sound insulation are restored.
- Hardware life is extended and the risk of breakage reduced.
- Basic maintenance and lubrication during the visit.
Pricing
Repair and adjustment is priced per sash. The price includes adjustment labour, basic lubrication and a gasket check; if any parts need replacing (handle, stay, hinge, gasket), you are informed separately and your approval is obtained. A better rate applies when several windows are adjusted in the same visit.
When Is Adjustment Needed?
If the handle is hard to turn, you feel air around a closed window or the bottom of the sash rubs on the frame, it is time for adjustment. Continuing to force the handle can break the mechanism.
