Tilt and Turn PVC Window

A PVC window that opens fully or tilts inward at the top for ventilation with a single handle. Provides secure ventilation and high thermal and acoustic insulation for bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.

Tilt and Turn PVC Window – Ortaca

Key advantages

  • Turn and tilt opening with a single handle
  • High thermal insulation with 5-6 chamber profiles
  • Double gaskets seal against wind and rain
  • Secure ventilation even when it rains
  • Hardware with misoperation safety
  • Easy cleaning of the outer pane from inside

A tilt and turn window is a versatile PVC window system that, depending on the handle position, either swings the sash fully inward or tilts it slightly at the top for ventilation. It is the most common opening type in Turkish homes and is particularly valuable in places like Ortaca where summer nights are warm.

Where Is It Used?

It is ideal for bedrooms, children’s rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. In the tilt position the sash opens only a few centimetres at the top, so rain stays out, the room gets constant fresh air and the security risk of an open window is reduced. On ground floors and in guesthouse rooms, being able to leave the window safely tilted at night is a real comfort for guests.

Advantages

  • Two opening modes with one handle: turn and tilt.
  • High thermal insulation thanks to 5–6 chamber profiles and double glazing.
  • Double gaskets seal against dust, wind and rain.
  • The inward-opening sash makes it easy to clean the outer pane from inside.
  • Misoperation safety prevents the sash from opening both ways at once.

Sizes and Installation

Tilt and turn sashes are usually made up to about 1.40 m wide and 1.60 m high; larger openings are divided with fixed sections and mullions. As sash weight increases, steel reinforcement and hinges with suitable load capacity are selected. During the survey the opening is measured at three points and a suitable gap is left for insulating foam. On installation the frame is levelled, fixed with anchors and screws and sealed with silicone outside.

Planning with an Insect Screen

The inward-opening sash works perfectly with an externally fitted hinged or pleated insect screen. Near the lake, in places like Dalyan and Köyceğiz, we recommend measuring the screen together with the window order.

Maintenance

Once a year, apply a few drops of machine oil to the moving parts and treat the gaskets with silicone spray. If you notice the sash sagging or rubbing, a simple hinge adjustment fixes it; our repair and service team does this on site. Cleaning the profiles with non-abrasive soapy water helps them stay white for many years.

Frequently asked questions

In some cases a new frame can be fitted over the old one, but this reduces the glass area and does not solve the problem if the old frame is rotten or warped. The method we usually recommend is to remove the old frames completely, fully seal the gap between frame and wall with foam and sealant, and fit new sills. This gives better results for both insulation and appearance. During the survey we look at the condition of the existing frame and explain both options to you.

Yes. Besides white, there are anthracite, grey, and woodgrain finishes such as oak and walnut, as well as solid colours. The colour can be applied to the outer face only or to both faces of the profile. Dark colours can heat up more on facades in direct sun, so we take the facade orientation into account in our recommendation. Complexes and apartment blocks may have facade uniformity rules, so we suggest checking with the management before choosing a colour. Coloured profiles may affect price and production time.

A lift-and-slide (HS) door is a sliding system in which large, heavy sashes lift slightly when the handle is turned and glide easily along the track. When closed, the sash settles onto its gasket, giving better insulation than conventional sliding doors. In wide openings between a living room and garden, terrace or pool, it brings the view inside while remaining easy to use. uPVC and aluminium versions are available; the right system is chosen during the survey according to the opening width and glass weight.

When old frames are removed, small pieces of plaster around the frame may break. We close these areas during installation with foam, sealant and, if needed, plaster repair; interior sills and cover trims also hide most imperfections. However, on painted walls the repaired area may look a different colour, in which case a paint touch-up may be needed. During the survey we assess how much disturbance removal may cause and let you know in advance. Protecting furniture and cleaning up are part of the installation.
