A sliding insect screen is a system in which an aluminium-framed mesh sash slides sideways on the track of a sliding window or door, or on a separately added track. Because the glass sashes and the screen move in the same direction, use feels very natural: you pull the screen to the side where you opened the glass.
Where Is It Used?
Sliding PVC balcony doors, terrace exits, sliding kitchen windows and sliding fronts of cafés and restaurants are the best uses. In apartments in central Ortaca and summer houses in Dalaman, a sliding screen added to a sliding balcony door is a practical and economical solution.
Advantages
- Natural, matching use with sliding joinery.
- Large sash sizes for wide openings.
- Easy movement on rollers.
- Edge sealing with brush seals.
- Economical cost and easy maintenance.
Sizes and Installation
Sliding screen sashes are usually made equal to or slightly wider than the sliding glass sash. Some PVC sliding profiles have a ready third track for the screen; on systems without one, an additional aluminium track is fitted outside. Because the top and bottom rollers are adjustable, smooth operation is achieved even if the floor or frame is slightly out of level.
Care
Dust, sand and leaves in the tracks make movement harder. Brushing the tracks regularly and having the rollers checked once a year is enough. In homes near the beach in Sarıgerme and Dalyan, cleaning more often extends roller life. If the sash jumps off the track or moves stiffly, our service team replaces and adjusts the rollers on site.
In homes with pets, pet mesh can be fitted to the sliding screen sash. For families with children, a horizontal kick rail can be added to the lower part of the sash to stop the mesh being pushed and torn.
