Living next to the airport
Dalaman is home to the region’s international airport. When take-off and landing traffic increases in the summer season, noise becomes a real comfort problem in neighbourhoods facing the runway and in apartments along the main road. That is why a large share of the requests we receive in Dalaman are about “cutting the noise”. Sound insulation is not achieved by a single product; it comes from choosing the right profile, glass, gaskets and installation quality together.
What we look at for sound insulation
- Laminated (acoustic interlayer) glass: a special film between two panes damps the vibration of noise.
- Panes of different thickness: using two panes of different thickness in the unit stops them vibrating at the same frequency.
- Multi-chamber profile and double gaskets: close the air gaps between sash and frame.
- Correct installation: the gap between frame and wall is fully filled with foam and external sealant.
During the survey we ask which room you sleep in and which side the noise comes from. Sometimes replacing only the bedroom and living room windows, rather than the whole house, is enough, which helps you use your budget wisely.
Building types and other needs
Dalaman has apartment blocks in the centre, detached houses with gardens in the outer neighbourhoods and village houses among farmland. In rented flats where many airport and tourism workers live, budget uPVC windows and screens are common; in family homes, glass balconies and pleated screens are often requested. Near the Dalaman River and wetlands mosquitoes are plentiful, so insect screens are part of almost every quote.
Travel and installation
Dalaman is about 20 minutes from Ortaca. Because acoustic glass units are made to measure, we confirm the delivery time together with the quote after the survey. On installation day the old windows are removed, new frames are fitted and the rooms are ready to use the same day.
Realistic expectations
A soundproof window does not eliminate outside noise completely, but it noticeably reduces the sound reaching the room when the windows are closed. If there are other weak points such as wall vents, shutter boxes or an old door, we assess these together during the survey. In this way we aim to get the most out of your investment. For tenants we also suggest screen models that can be removed and taken to a new home.
