A district between pine forest and the gulf
Ula is a quiet district set among pine-covered hills, looking down over the Gulf of Gökova. Old stone houses in the town, detached homes with gardens in the villages and holiday homes on the coast at Akyaka and Gökova all sit within the same district. That variety means choosing products to suit each building rather than recommending one standard option.
Replacing windows in stone houses
In Ula’s thick-walled stone houses the window openings are often irregular: corners may not be square, and reveal and lintel sizes vary from one window to the next. We therefore measure every opening separately and seal the gap between frame and wall with insulating foam and suitable silicone. For owners who want to keep the character of the walls, woodgrain or anthracite uPVC tends to sit better against a stone facade.
Common jobs in Ula
- Replacing old timber windows with uPVC: removing rotten frames and fitting insulated uPVC windows with double glazing.
- Hinged and pleated insect screens: for doors and windows in homes on the edge of the forest.
- Glass balconies and enclosed verandas: to make verandas with views over the gulf usable in winter too.
- Roller shutters: on south-facing elevations, against summer heat and winter cold.
Maintenance near the forest
In homes close to pine trees, pollen in spring and pine needles and resin in late summer can collect in sliding tracks and screen mesh. That is why we favour screens that are easy to remove and wash, and open track profiles. Cleaning the tracks and checking the gaskets once a year noticeably extends the life of the frames.
Villages and coastal neighbourhoods
We also work on holiday and detached homes in places such as Akyaka, Gökova, Kızılyaka, Çıtlık and Ataköy. You will find more detail on Akyaka’s distinctive architecture and the coastal wind at Gökova on their own pages.
Appointments and travel
Ula is about an hour from Ortaca. We plan surveys in the area for the same day and, where possible, complete measuring and a written quote on the first visit.
