A guillotine glass system is a modern enclosure system in which glass panels move up and down in vertical guides, usually driven by a motor. When the panes are lowered they stack at balustrade height and the upper section is completely open; when raised, the space is closed against rain and wind.
Where Is It Used?
Restaurants along the Dalyan channel, café and hotel terraces in Göcek and Fethiye, poolside pavilions of villas in Sarıgerme and large balconies are ideal applications. It suits spaces where the view matters and which should be fully open in summer and closed in winter.
Advantages
- Motorised operation by remote control or wall switch.
- No vertical frames in the line of sight when lowered.
- The lower pane acts as a balustrade for safety.
- Double glazing option for winter use.
- Safe movement with obstacle detection sensor.
- Quiet belt-driven mechanism.
Technical Design
Guillotine systems usually consist of two or three glass panels. The bottom panel may be fixed or moving. The glass is single tempered or tempered/laminated double glazing. The motor is concealed in the top frame, with manual operation for emergencies. Side profiles are reinforced and locking points added against wind load.
Sizes and Installation
Module width can reach 400–500 cm and height 300–350 cm. Very wide facades are closed with several modules. Before installation, floor and ceiling load capacity, the power supply point and drainage are planned. Installation and commissioning usually take one to two days, followed by remote control and safety training for the user.
Maintenance
An annual check of the motor, belts and sensors, track cleaning and gasket care are recommended. At seaside businesses, cleaning the tracks more often against salt build-up ensures a long life. We can set up a pre-season maintenance plan for businesses.
