A glass balcony insect screen is a special screen solution fitted to the inside or outside of folding or sliding glass balcony systems that can close wide openings without interruption. When you fully open the glass panels on a summer evening, the balcony instantly becomes an outdoor space, and the screen protects that opening from insects.
Where Is It Used?
Apartments with glass balconies, enclosed terraces, winter gardens and glass partitions of cafés and restaurants are the main applications. In homes near the lakeshore in Dalyan and Köyceğiz and on balconies facing Ortaca’s farmland, it stops summer evenings being spent indoors because of mosquitoes.
System Options
- Pleated glass balcony screen: single or double leaf for wide openings with a low bottom track; the most popular solution.
- Sliding glass balcony screen: sashes sliding on a separate track parallel to the glass balcony track.
- Fixed sections: fixed screens for side sections that never open.
Advantages
- Insect protection even when the glass balcony is fully open.
- Closes wide openings without interruption.
- Mesh folds away when not in use.
- Matches the glass balcony profile colour.
- Can be added to an existing glass balcony.
Sizes and Installation
The size is determined by the top and bottom track positions, ceiling and balustrade details of the glass balcony. It is usually mounted on the inner side, in line with the glass panels but without obstructing their movement. On very wide balconies the opening is divided into several pleated modules with fixed posts between them. Installation is possible without removing the existing glass balcony.
Care
Regularly cleaning dust and leaves from the bottom track and checking the tension cords once a year is recommended. If the pleated mesh wears over time, only the mesh is replaced and the frame is kept. Keeping the screen closed on windy days avoids unnecessary strain on the mesh and cords.
